On 16 September 1975, the nation of Papua New Guinea achieved its independence from Australia.The Papua New Guinea Association of Australia (PNGAA) looks forward to sharing this special 50th anniversary of independence year with you.We wish to share events for you to enjoy, along with your stories, your news and your photos – hilarious, heartwarming, entertaining and thoughtful.Stories that showcase our legacy and strengthen our future.Australia and Papua New Guinea (PNG) share a deep historical and contemporary relationship, highlighted by the warm respect between peoples from both countries who have shared the journey to independence and beyond. The Papua New Guinea Association of Australia (PNGAA) embraces initiatives to highlight and develop cultural understanding and education between the two countries, along with robust civil links building a stronger, unified relationship.The PNGAA is an association that anyone with an interest in the PNG-Australian relationship can become a subscription member of and can contribute to through various activities. PNGAA invites you to share your stories, both pre and post independence, your events, your photos and your news.
